Australian National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Champions

Australian National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Champions

We had the pleasure of going out to Warriewood yesterday to watch a few of the SJJA athletes we train compete in the Australia National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship. It was great day out and they all competed hard to get some good results.

Igor Almeida was making his comeback after a long lay off with injury so we were really excited to see him compete. He worked hard in his preparation and was really strict with his nutrition, dropping from 69 kg to 60 kg in 4 weeks to make weight for this competition. Winning this comp was a good return for him and we look forward to seeing him progress and compete again in some big competitions next month in America and then at the worlds in Abu Dhabi in April.

Tamara Garces got a silver medal and competed hard throughout the day. She unfortunately suffered a knee injury which hopefully isn't too bad so she can continue to train hard leading into her next competitions.

Gilgamesh Blanch also won the UAEJJF Australian National Pro Adult blue belt 69kg division and the won the UAEJJF Sydney International Pro 62kg Adult blue belt division. He then competed in open weights winning his first round before being beaten in the second round. This was his first time competing in the open weight category.

It's exciting to see how far everyone can progress with more hard work.
