Good Progress Heading Into the Rugby League Season

Good Progress Heading Into the Rugby League Season

Good session from Marcus on Monday morning hitting a few PB's. The above video is 102.5kg for 5 reps with a high heel elevation. In October last year he back squatted 90kg x 5 reps with a low heel elevation so his strength has come along nicely. When he goes back to that type of squat I am sure he will crush that previous lift.

He also finished off with 87.5kg x 10 reps on the regular back squat. Good consistent work has set him up for these strength gains and for the rugby league season ahead.

We will continue to work on technique and weaknesses and hopefully see some more progress like this after the next cycle.

Supplements - Know why and how

Supplements - Know why and how

January 31, 2018

Do you supplement? 💊

Majority of people take a multivitamin (when they remember), the occasional fish oil and a pre workout or protein shake around training times.

But are they worth it?

Yes - IF you take them properly in the correct dosages from a quality source.

How do you know if what you're taking is a quality brand?

If you can buy it over the counter, generally it's a poor quality and the cheapest form of that supplement available.

For example, over the counter brands of magnesium cause people to spend much more time on the toilet than they were planning on.

How do you know how much to take?

This one is dependent on the product, the individual and the reason for its use.

Know what you're putting into your body and why ✌🏻

UAEJJF National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Champion

We just want to say a massive congratulations to Igor Almeida for winning gold yesterday down in Melbourne at the UAEJJF National Pro. It has been a long road back from some big injuries to his back and then a shoulder reconstruction, but he has put in a lot of work and showed that he is ready to reach his potential.
A lot of people see the success but not many get to see what actually happens behind the scenes with the enormous ups and downs you go through when injured and then the amount of hard work and discipline it takes to get back to the level you were at and ultimately, past it.
Injuries suck but they do teach you a lot of things. You are never done, you might have bad days but if you just keep working hard and persisting and being grateful for what you do have you will get through it.
Igor has done this and I know he is very focused for up coming comps.
Well done mate. So proud of you.

Professor Bruno Alves was also happy with the performance posting the following.
"Well boys!!
Double gold today☝️
Inspired by Igor Almeida 6 months ago Igor had reconstructed shoulder and now is back on the mats winning a category above his division and beating a World Class Brown belt in the finals👊
Never give up, hard times always will come but not to stay👊"

Igor was weighing 64.7kg on Thursday and competed in the 77kg class on Sunday. It was his first comp at brown belt and he came up against a guy who finished second at the worlds last year so it was a great test.
