Surround Yourself With The Best

Surround Yourself With The Best

"Expect EVERYTHING. Raise your expectations. Surround yourself with people who expect the best. According to what psychologists call, “The Pygmalion Effect,” people rise or fall to the expectations of those around them.

The best thing you can do is surround yourself with people who hold you to a higher standard than you hold yourself.

Very few people want REAL accountability in their lives. I’ve watched it. It takes a considerable amount of persuasion to convince someone to make a change THEY WANT TO MAKE in their lives.

Most people resent accountability. They don’t want to be pushed. They don’t want high expectations.

They want lower and lowering expectations. Even when they pay someone to hold them accountable.

But if you want real growth — surround yourself with people who expect you to show up bigger than you’ve ever watched yourself show up. Surround yourself with people who see enormously more in you than you could ever see in yourself.

Expect success.

Attach to nothing.

Play.

Fail."
I truly believe this. I have been very fortunate to learn from some of the best people in their respective fields and it has helped me progress so much quicker than I could possibly have if I went after it myself. I love being aro und a group of people who are all pushing their personal limits, it is very motivating. At times it can be uncomfortable and you will have doubts about yourself but the more often you get uncomfortable and push your own expectations the faster you progress and the easier it becomes.

I heard a great story about Dave Tate where he said each time he became the strongest guy in the gym he would seek out where stronger guys trained and would go train at that gym. Eventually he ended up at Westside Barbell where some of the strongest powerlifters in the world were training. This is a great mentality to have and if more people would drop their ego they would be able to achieve much more than they thought possible. So many guys these days actually do the opposite and try to train at times where they can be the strongest, bluffing themselves and pumping up that ego a little.

Benefits of Waking Up Early

Benefits of Waking Up Early

Waking up early is one of the most common traits you see in high performers. From reading a lot of books over the years this is something you see from highly successful people in all different fields. It is something I have been doing for many years now and I am much more productive than I was previously and I have been able to learn a lot in this time period. By the time most people wake up I have read for a couple of hours and finished my most important mental work for the day. I then train and for the rest of the day I am a better person because I have already accomplished many things I have set myself for the day and run off the momentum I have created and feel way more productive.

"How you spend your morning determines your success in life.
How you spend your morning determines who you will become.
How you spend your morning determines whether you become world-class at something, or remain merely average.
How you spend your morning is the difference between making tens of millions of dollars and making less than 100 grand.
How you spend your morning determines how well you:
  • think
  • strategize
  • prioritize
  • spend your time
  • choose your friends
  • choose your lover
  • choose your career
  • perform in your work
  • influence the world"
"Every person has 24 hours per day.
However, what each person does with those 24 hours determines who they become and what they do. How you spend your 24 hours is the difference between being happy and being miserable."
