Bruno Alves Silver at IBJJF World Master 2024

Bruno Alves Silver at IBJJF World Master 2024

We would like to congratulate Bruno Alves on his silver medal at the IBJJF World Master Championship.

This was Bruno's first competition in 7 years and he had 6 matches, getting 4 submissions along the way. Bruno got beat by a close call, refs decision in the final. This is the only way we have ever seen Bruno lose a match. We have never seen him lose by points or submission the whole time we have known and worked with him. He is truly one of the best athletes in the world.

After a 7 year layoff, this is a huge achievement and just shows the quality and standard Bruno is at, both in jiujitsu, and in life.

He is so professional in everything he does and when he commits to something, he is fully in. No doubts, no stones left unturned. He knows he has a lot of people who look up to him and he carries that responsibility into every preparation, every tournament, and everything he does in his life.

It is always a pleasure working with Bruno and we look forward to the next time.

"Second at @ibjjf Worlds Masters 2024! 🇧🇷 🇦🇺

Today was a long day here in Vegas—6 matches, 4 submissions, and a close call in the final loosing by referee decision.

After 7 years away from competition, I decided to give it another big shot. Over the last 10 weeks, I got back to training hard with my students and SJJA coaches without do much noise as I did not know if my body would handle it and it did.

Big thanks to my conditioning coach @coachpirri and the amazing crew at @totalhealthperformance who got me into the best shape of my life. I couldn’t have done it without the support of @ch.arise.v, who fixed me up and helped me push through all the injuries during camp.

Thanks to God, my family, my fiancée @soflundd who put up with my bad mood during weight cuts and supports me every single day, my coach @zeradiola who taught me the best jiu-jitsu, and all my staff, students, and friends—you’re the reason I did it again.

Also, a huge thanks to my long-time great friends @otaviosousagbhb & @lucasrochabjj who coached me today & Shannon fish who came to watch it.

I hope this competition inspires others to believe they can always go beyond what they think is possible.

The medal may not be gold, but this comeback feels like gold to me. 👊💎

Bruno Alves Back at IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024

Bruno Alves Back at IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024

Bruno Alves makes a return to competition this weekend at the IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Due to injury, Bruno had to pull out of his last competition a few years ago. It is great to see him back in the competitive arena after many years off.

This is a competition Bruno has won in the past. He has always performed well and I have no doubts this return after a long lay off will be the same.

Bruno prepares very well. His nutrition is always dialed in, he does extra conditioning work, and he focuses on his strength in the gym. This prep, we kept the volume low and had to many a couple of old injuries that still play up, but Bruno is very well prepared, as he always is. I can only speak from a physical preparation perspective but I know his technical aspects will be at the highest level, as anyone who has ever trained with Bruno will be able to tell you.

It is a big bracket with 64 competitors, 6 matches to win the competition, so all the hard work Bruno has put it will be needed.

We want to wish Bruno all the best for the weekend. We are super excited to see him compete again.
